Massage Therapy

Our massage therapists are all graduates of the Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies and are members of the Massage Therapist Association of Saskatchewan.  Our therapists continually meet and exceed the continuing education standards required by MTAS. Your massage appointment at the YMCA includes use of the steamroom, whirlpool, showers, towel and locker service.  To book an appointment with one of our therapists, please call 757-9622. Interesting Fact! –Our YMCA Massage Therapy Clinic was the first remedial massage therapy clinic in Regina – established in 1962!! 

 

Kerri Murray 

Kerri graduated from the Western College of Remedial Massage Therapy in 2001, and has been a remedial massage therapist at the Regina Y.M.C.A. since July of the same year.  Kerri has remained committed to helping the growth and improvement of the massage profession by working as an examiner at the Western College upon graduating to 2007.  Kerri’s main focus since graduating has been prenatal and postnatal massage as well as working with infants, she has been teaching Infant Massage classes since 2002.  Finding success and enjoyment working in these areas, she is looking forward to continuing her education in these areas.  She is excited to have been voted “the best massage therapist in Regina” in the Prairie Dog in 2008 by her clients.


Karen Surtees

Karen has been a remedial massage therapist at the Regina Y.M.C.A. since 1991.  She received the Abe Reimer Award of Achievement upon graduating from the Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies in 1994.  Her continuing education studies have focused on CranioSacral Therapy and St. John’s NeuroMuscular Therapy.  Many clients who have suffered with back pain, migraines, chronic headaches and dysfunctions of the jaw have found relief and lasting results from the combination of massage therapy and CranioSacral Therapy that Karen applies.  Treatments are tailored for individual needs. 

 

Richard Pearson  

Richard graduated from the Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies in 1999 with diplomas in Remedial Massage Therapy and Sports Event Massage.  He joined the Y.M.C.A. of Regina Massage Therapy Clinic that same year in July.  Richard believes that continued education is essential to effective and knowledgeable practice and continues to pursue further education in massage.  In addition to his advanced massage education, Richard also holds certificates in Hydrotherapy, Hot Stone Therapy, as well as knowledge of Lymphatic Drainage Techniques and Thai Massage.  Richard is passionate about his clients overall well being and rehabilitation back to a functional status.

 

Mike Dunster 

Mike has been a remedial massage therapist at the Regina YMCA since 2001; graduating from Regina’s Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies in the same year.  During his career at the YMCA, Mike’s continuing education pursuits have included workshops on stretching and the management and treatment of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.  Mike has also begun training in CranioSacral Therapy and is anxious to expand his knowledge and practice of this highly effective modality.  Other interests include deep tissue massage geared toward pain relief and the balancing of muscle groups.  Mike feels that Body, Mind and Spirit approach to one’s health should be strongly encouraged.

 

David Stadnyk  

David graduated from the Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies in 1989 and started at the Regina YMCA the same year.  His first interest was in sports massage which he took various related courses in.  Some of the events that he has worked at were: the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, the 1989 Jeux Canada Games in Saskatoon, the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, plus a number of other sporting events. Over the years he has developed a strong interest in chronic pain and illness.  He believes there is a strong mind-body connection involved   with chronic pain and has studied and continues to study related courses accordingly.  These courses include CranioSacral Therapy from the Upledger Institute, John Barnes Myofascial Release, and Somatic Experiencing.
